About Dr. Laverty
Dr. Kristine H. Laverty, PSY 6719, is a neuropsychologist who has dedicated her professional career to evaluating the thinking and learning patterns of children and adults.
Dr. Kristine Laverty's authoritative and practical knowledge of neuropsychology enables her to provide a bridge between neuropsychology's expanding knowledge of the brain and the individual's personal neuropsychological profile. By building this bridge, Dr. Laverty is able to help patients tailor an approach to daily living grounded in their own unique thinking and learning styles.
In developing a personal neuropsychological profiles for her patients, Dr. Laverty uses diagnostic expertise developed during a lifetime of study and practice to describe how behavior at home, school or work is linked to an individual's underlying neurophysiology. Just as a home's electrical functions are related to the "hard wiring" hidden within the walls, the way individuals function in everyday life situations can often be traced to the unseen "hard wiring" within their brains.
To understand these brain processing patterns and to address the challenges they can create for children or adults, Dr. Laverty;
-
conducts comprehensive diagnostic assessment of cognitive activities, including intelligence, focus and attention, language processing, perceptual reasoning; achievement and social and emotional development;
-
identifies discernible patterns within these activity areas;
-
diagnoses cognitive differences;
-
develops individual-specific plans for addressing differences and/or accommodating relative weaknesses.
Neuropsychological patterns with which Dr. Laverty has worked extensively include attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia, language processing disorders, nonverbal learning disability, autism, asperger's, depression,and anxiety disorder.
